The film follows Billy Batson, a 14-year-old orphan living in Philadelphia, whose moved from foster home to foster home, and is about to land in his seventh. One day, Billy hops on the subway and shortly thereafter is transported to a magical realm where an ancient wizard grants him the power to transform into a fully grown superhero by uttering the word “Shazam!”

A brand new run of the SHAZAM! comic book was just released yesterday with the team of superstar writer Geoff Johns and artist Dale Eaglesham at the helm. There’s mad scientists, magical tigers and bunnies, and even Santa Claus. You can check out our review of the first issue right here.

Shazam! is scheduled to be released in the United States on April 5, 2019.
