Former Marvel Editor Heather Antos joins Valiant Entertainment

The Marvel alum will help Valiant develop a new line of comic books.

Marvel alum Heather Antos will be joining Valiant Entertainment as an editor, according to a report out of The Beat. Antos’s first project with Valiant will be working with Vita Ayala on Valiant’s new Livewire series, and she’s being given the freedom to “develop a stable of her own titles.”

Prior to joining Valiant’s team, Antos worked at Marvel as an assistant editor from 2015 to March 2018, after which she left comics to join the eSports organization Unikrn as their editor-in-chief. During her time at Unikrn she maintained a freelance comics editor position with Image Comics on the titles Redlands, Bitter Root, and Injection.

“I’m thrilled to announce the hiring of Heather Antos,” said Senior Editorial Director Robert Meyers. “Heather has a sterling reputation, from the launching of the Star Wars line at Marvel, to her recent work at Image on Injection and Bitter Root; she is the kind of voice we want at Valiant. With Heather joining us, we have a fully staffed Editorial department – each member brings unique story viewpoints that will broaden and deepen the Valiant line. I look forward to reading the stories Heather develops within the Valiant Universe.”

In addition to Meyers, Antos will join an editorial team comprised of senior editor Karl Bollers, editor Lysa Hawkins, associate editor David Menchel, and assistant editor Drew Baumgartner.

“There is no better time than right now to join Valiant,” said Antos on her hiring. “The creative teams, characters, and stories have never looked stronger and I’m excited to collaborate with Editorial on even greater stories as we build toward the release of BLOODSHOT in theaters February 2020. From X-O Manowar to Livewire, Quantum and Woody to Faith, there is a Valiant character for everyone, and I’m excited to bring these characters to new readers.”

While Antos can’t reveal what creative projects she has planned, she did note how excited she was about the freedom Valiant is providing her in that space.

As for what she’s working on first, she had this to say: “Anyone who follows me on Twitter knows of my deep love for horror and using genre to explore the darker reflections of humanity. However, that genre wasn’t something I was able to dabble on as deep as I wanted to during my time at Marvel. This is all changing at Valiant, though. And I CANNOT wait to explore their universe through this lens!”
