Star Trek 4 has been ‘shelved’

SJ Clarkson was set to be the first woman to direct a Star Trek film.

It seems the cinematic voyages of the Starship Enterprise have hit an obstacle. In an article on the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel, Deadline has reported that Star Trek 4 has been ‘shelved’.

The movie would have continued the adventures of Chris Pine as Captain Kirk, bringing back Chris Hemsworth as his father, who’d played him in the 2009 film. SJ Clarkson, who is now going to direct the Thrones prequel’s pilot, was set to direct the film. She would have been the first woman to direct a Star Trek film.

Star Trek Discovery will begin its second season next Thursday on CBS All Access.
