A tutorial for Battlefield 5’s battle royale mode “Firestorm” has leaked online

Battlefield’s take on battle royale appears in a leaked video.

Months after its initial release, a tutorial video for “Firestorm,” Battlefield 5‘s battle royale mode, has surfaced online.

The source of the video appears to have stemmed from EA’s content servers, and not pulled from Battlefield 5‘s files. The video does follow the same pacing, structure, and presentation seen in other Battlefield 5 modes such as Breakthrough, Frontlines, and Domination.

DICE has not released any official game play of Firestorm, although hints of the mode have been teased in past promotional videos. The video also lends legitimacy to the previous datamined reveals that the mode will include reinforcements, dynamic objects, and even helicopters; however, like most datamined leaks, take the information with a grain of salt. The teaser will likely be taken down soon, but you can always go back to EA’s Server Link.

The video reveals a unique take on the genre. While there are some similarities to the typical battle royale framework, the Battlefield fingerprint remains. As expected, players will parachute into the map, three weapon classes are available (common, rare, and epic), class benefits are excluded, and backpacks are essential.

Battlefield approaches the genre differently in several ways. The sheer breadth of vehicles, capturing locations grants access to reinforcements and rare combat vehicles, and downed enemies can fire while bleeding. If the trailer proves to be true the closing circle will be unforgiving, destroying everything in its wake.

Since the leak, Battlefield’s Twitter account has shared a teaser and has promised more details to come. Stay tuned for more updates and features.
