Enough can’t be said about how good this book looks. Cabal, with Nolan Woodard and Federico Blee on colors, stun with the visuals. The use of an eclectic layout style keeps you on your toes. From a double page layout with 58 panels to an impressive double page splash with over 50 characters on display to a fun use of long panels to show off Stilt-Man, they all come together to make this a joyous Spider-Man tale. It has so many villains, so many delightful iconic Spidey moments and they all look great. Spider-Bite, in his 9-year-old form, looks accurate for his age and never awkward. The art keeps your eyes steady and ready for the next big surprise.
And big surprises are in store for readers. Tom Taylor has written a great story here that stands alone. Just about five months ago I pointed out Tom Taylor will, or at least probably, win an Eisner for his work on Batman Annual #3.

Add another one to the pile of nominations. This issue comes at you with a story that’s believable, fun, and exciting. It hits all the Spidey marks. Then it hits you with a truth that is a lot to bear. It hits you in the feels, reminds you that Spider-Man faces so many supervillains, but there are villains even stronger that Spider-Man can’t topple. It’s a sweet sentiment, and the entire adventure ends on a positive note, albeit a sad one. This is a one-shot story that’s timeless and will be talked about for some time. I’m not spoiling anything for a reason — read it and find out why this will stay with you.

It can’t be perfect, can it?
If you’re a callous-unemotional monster you might hate this book. Thankfully I’d wager nobody is that coldhearted!
Is it good?
An impressive issue that hits all the marks for what will be a classic Spider-Man story. Run, don’t walk to your local comic shop to read one of the most emotional comic book reads of the year. I dare you not to shed a tear by the end.
