Melissa McCarthy in talks to play Ursula in live-action ‘Little Mermaid’ movie?

Has Ursula been cast?

The Little Mermaid is one of the most beloved Disney classics. Released in 1989, audiences of all ages still watch it regularly. To this day, Ariel remains one of Disney’s favorite princesses.

In the past few years, Disney has been taking animated classics and turning them into live action films for new audiences. Continuing the trend of live action films, The Little Mermaid is scheduled to begin production in 2020.

Melissa McCarthy in talks to play Ursula in live-action 'Little Mermaid' movie?

Every princess has a villain. Sleeping Beauty needs Maleficent, Cinderella has her wicked stepmother. Maybe it’s her look, maybe it’s her song, but Ursula, the sea witch, remains a villainous favorite.

Although casting information has not been released, it is being reported that Melissa McCarthy is in talks to play that poor unfortunate soul, Ursula. The Oscar nominated McCarthy has appeared in such films as The Heat, Spy, and will soon appear in The Kitchen.

There is currently no release date for the film.
