Spoilers ahead. You’ve been warned.
A few months ago in Justice League #17, Scott Snyder revealed something huge between Lex Luthor and Martian Manhunter. It rocked what we though we knew about the two, as we learned they met as young children and bonded over the experience. Their bond came up again in Justice League #26 when J’onn J’onzz attempted to find Lex, but instead found his father.
Check that out below.
But wait, isn’t he dead? That’s something Martian Manhunter can’t figure out in Justice League #27 (out today!).
It’s a rather heavy moment since Lex Luthor’s dad was awful to Martian Manhunter. He treated him like an animal and was most likely going to kill him when he was done with him. It’s a nightmare from his past, but it turns out that nightmare isn’t real.
It turns out he’s some kind of robot! But not just any robot…
Amazo is back! Last seen in Justice League of America Vol 2 #60 (way back in October 2011), the robot with all the powers you could dream of was pretending to be Lionel Luthor. Or, if you read the entire issue (which I highly recommend), you’ll learn it’s a form of Amazo.
It’s rather exciting to see a classic Justice League villain back in action, but why was he pretending to be Lionel Luthor? You’ll have to read the book to find out!
