The Young Bucks address CM Punk’s AEW status

Could the Best in the World be All Elite?

AEW has provided a great alternative to American pro wrestling fans looking for something different than WWE, but just as importantly, it provides an alternative for the wrestlers. The topic of CM Punk always comes up when talking about future AEW signings, as his dramatic falling out with WWE led to the “Best in the World” to fall out of love with wrestling. However, had a company like AEW existed back in 2014, things may have turned out much differently for the Straight Edge Superstar.

During Chris Van Vliet’s latest interview with the Young Bucks, he asks if there has been any movement in the discussions between Punk and AEW. “We’ll be honest — of course we would love him to come to our company. At this time, I just don’t think he wants to,” Nick responded. Matt added in, “[if] he wants to come back to wrestling, it’ll be his decision.”

Van Vliet pushed the subject a little more, to which Matt said, “Professional wrestling, he knows better than anybody, is the most demanding thing in the world. You can’t just find yourself back in it one day and be like ‘okay, I guess I’m doing this again.’ You really have to want to do it, and that’s up to him.”

It sounds like the door will always be open for Punk in AEW — or any company he wants to return to, really — but the interest just isn’t there on his side. Time will tell if he’ll ever get the itch again.

Be sure to check out the whole interview, as they also address PAC’s AEW status, talk more about the chair shot heard ’round the world, and a lot more. You can watch below.
