Back in February, Netflix announced that it would be developing a series adaptation of The Baby-Sitters Club, based on the popular young adult series of the same name by Ann M. Martin. It was recently announced that Alicia Silverstone will be joining the cast as Elizabeth Thomas – Brewer.
If you read the books then you know that Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer is the mother of the BSC president, Kristy Thomas. And you are also aware that Elizabeth Thomas became Elizabeth Thomas-Brewer when she married rich guy Watson Brewer, who will be played by Mark Feuerstein.
The Netflix series will update the series for our current times. While The Baby-Sitters Club revolved around friendships, first crushes, and baby-sitting hijinks, the series was never timid about approaching serious topics about illnesses, divorce, or race and it seems like the new series will remain faithful to the spirit of the books. How else will it be updated? Will the Kid Kits have iPads? Fidget Spinners? Who knows?
No official date has been set for the series release.
