Written by LaBeouf and directed by Alma Har’el, the film is about the relationship between a young actor and his rodeo clown father. Otis, who is the fictionalized version of LaBeouf, is played by Noah Jupe in his child stage and adult Noah is played by Lucas Hedges. LaBeouf takes on the role of James, a character based on his real life father. Making her film debut is FKA twigs, an English dancer, singer, and producer. She plays the role of Otis’s friend and neighbor.

LaBeouf has been pretty open about his personal issues and confronts them head on in this trailer for Honey Boy. The trailer shows a father-son relationship marked by both humor and tragedy. LaBeouf, while some accounts are fictionalized, gives an intimate glimpse into his background and upbringing.

Honey Boy will be available in theaters November 8th.
