This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Fantastic Fest and excitement is already extremely high. Fantastic Fest takes place in Austin, Texas where it serves as the largest genre film festival in the country.
The festival looks to bring attention to films that specialize in horror, sci-fi, action, and fantasy. Fantastic Fest is inclusive and brings in films from all over the world that push boundaries and collaborates with other festivals to shed light on lesser known artists. In the past, Fantastic Fest has premiered films like John Wick, There Will Be Blood, and The Night Comes for Us.
It was announced earlier that Fantastic Fest will premiere Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit and Takashi Miike’s First Love. The second wave has been announced and in addition to adding Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, there will also be films that celebrate the Mexican Film genre like The Black Pit of Dr. M and The Ship of Monsters. There will also be a celebration of LGBTQ+ films like Scream, Queen! My Nightmare on Elm Street, which is a documentary about the star of Nightmare on Elm Street 2, Mark Patton.
AiPT! will be at this year’s Fantastic Fest. Stay tuned for content! To see the full programming, visit the Fantastic Fest site.
