Marvel’s Star Wars series will come to an end in November

The long running Star Wars comic is coming to an end.

“Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the Force. Mourn them do not. Miss them do not. Attachment leads to jealously. The shadow of greed, that is.”

– Yoda

Marvel Comics have announced that Star Wars #75 will be the final issue in the series that has been ongoing since January of 2015.

The launch of the series set a modern day record with the sales on its first issue making it the only comic book to sell over one million copies this century, clocking in with a staggering 1,073,000 copies sold. That includes variants, collections and digital sales.

Marvel’s solicitations for its November comics were released today, and that included Star Wars issues #74 and #75, which are written by Greg Pak and drawn by long-time Star Wars comics artist Phil Noto. To the shock of the Star Wars and comics communities, the solicitation for issue #75 included “FINAL ISSUE! IT’S A TRAP!” This marks the end of the current arc “Rebels and Rogues,” as well as the series.

The ending of the series is exactly one month away from the upcoming conclusion to the sequel trilogy, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Also noteworthy is the fact that this leaves Star Wars: Doctor Aphra as the only remaining ongoing Star Wars comic series. This year also saw the conclusion to writer Charles Soule’s 25 issue Star Wars: Darth Vader series.

With Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker coming one month after the Star Wars comic series ends, fans should expect a number of tie-in mini-series, one-shots and follow up series to be announced at D23 or following the films release.
