DC Universe gets weird with new anthology series, BizarroTV

DC Universe expands by digging into obscure characters.

The DC Universe streaming service is expanding again in the form of a new anthology series, BizarroTV. Fans should expect the series to be made up of short-form segments that deep cut of some of the more obscure characters from the DC Universe — Space Cabby, Ambush Bug, Creeper, and Slam Bradley to name a few. DC made the announcement at a DC Universe press event Thursday evening.

“Part of the goal of this series is to have irreverent takes on obscure DCU characters like Space Cabby and Ambush Bug,” said Peter Girardi, Executive VP of Warner Bros. Television. “Space Cabby will be live-action series. I’d like Patton Oswald to play him since he did the voice for the animated character. There will likely be both fictional and real people getting involved with Space Cabby.”

Blue Ribbon Content, part of Warners Bros. Television Group, will be creating the series in partnership with creative talent from every corner of the DC family. The series is being described as “mixed media” with animation, puppets, and live-action.

BizarroTV is expected to premiere sometime in 2020.
