At today’s Walking Dead panel at New York Comic Con, Lauren Cohan made a surprise appearance to announce that Maggie Rhees would be returning to the show next season.
As you can see in video below posted by the official Twitter account for The Walking Dead, Cohan jumped on stage wearing what appears to be a Negan costume and a Jason Voorhees mask before blowing the roof off the place.
It’s no secret that showrunner Angela Kang had wanted (and tentatively planned) to have Cohan back at some point, but it’s good to see it officially happening now.
Beyond the Cohan announcement, there wan’t much else announced at the panel (aside from the show predictably being renewed for an 11th season). But honestly, what more do you need to hear? Anyone who who watches The Walking Dead is bound to happy about Maggie’s return. She’s not only one of the series’ very best characters, but also still had a lot of great story potential and open plot threads to resolve. Considering how much better the show has been the last two years, this announcement couldn’t come at a better time.
