Chris Jericho adds painful stipulation to AEW World Title match with Darby Allin

The two will go head-to-head in Philadelphia next week on AEW Dynamite.

Darby Allin defeated Jimmy Havoc on Wednesday night in Boston to secure himself the position of number one contender and with it, a shot at Chris Jericho and his AEW Championship. The pair face off next week on Oct. 16 in Philadelphia for the World Title.

Now normally a title shot with the champ would be reason enough for Darby Allin to watch his back, but the adrenaline junkie decided to throw all caution to the wind and raise the stakes by attacking Jericho from behind at Dynamite Wednesday night. And on a skateboard no less.

While Jericho and his newly dubbed “Inner Circle” faction were attacking Cody Rhodes, MJF, and the Young Bucks, Allin appeared at the top of the entrance ramp, flew down on his skateboard, and launched an attack to Jericho’s blind side.

The AEW Champion has taken serious issue with Allin’s attack and cut a promo today in which he changed their match next week from a standard singles competition, to a Philadelphia Street Fight. So now not only does Allin have to watch out for the Inner Circle, but he’ll also need to prepare himself for an incredibly violent match. One that the veteran Jericho has a lot more experience with.

You can watch the promo of Jericho sitting in a locker room calling out number one Contender Darby Allin, below.

I don’t cause pain, I make the pain. Next week, Chris Jericho isn’t going to be in Philadelphia, but the Painmaker will be. I’ll see you then Darby, it’s going to be the match of your career. It will also be your last one.

The AEW Champion Philadelphia Street fight joins Brit Baker vs. Rhio for the AEW Women’s Title and two first round matches in the AEW Tag Team Tournament, as the featured matches on next week’s episode of Dynamite.
