‘Joker’ becomes highest-grossing R-rated movie ever, surpasses ‘Deadpool 2’ with $785.5 million

Joker, starring Joaquin Phoenix, may have been a polarizing film among critics but that hasn’t stopped it from dancing its way to record-setting success in the worldwide box office. As of this writing, the Warner Bros. film has become the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever, surpassing Deadpool 2 ($785 million).

Ryan Reynolds, who plays the titular character in the Deadpool films had this tongue-in-cheek, quasi-congratulations for the movie’s new record:
