WWE has a long and strange history of changing their Superstar’s names. Sometimes they assign a brand new name, sometimes they shorten the name, sometimes they lengthen the name, and sometimes its an ongoing cycle that mixes it all together.
Mustafa Ali joined that club back in March of 2019 when his name was shorted to simply “Ali,” joining the likes of Cesaro, Big E, Andrade, Otis, Ivar, and many others. At the time this occurred Ali shared that “Mustafa” means “chosen one” and nothing in that regard has changed.
Wednesday Ali received some validation for the statement he made back in March. He tweeted “My name is Mustafa Ali.”

For reasons unexplained and likely never to be explained, Mustafa Ali is now the full name of the wrestler formerly known as “Ali.” Congratulations to Mustafa Ali aka Adeel Alam for regaining what was lost.
