Warner Bros. unveils Superman: Red Son trailer

The iconic story has become a DC animated film.

Warner Bros. has unveiled the first trailer for the upcoming animated film adaptation of Mark Millar’s classic 2003 Elseworlds tale Superman: Red Son.

Based on the classic 2003 Elseworld’s story by Mark Millar, Dave Johnson, and Kilian Plunkett, Superman: Red Son takes place in an alternate reality where baby Kal-El’s spaceship crash lands in Russia during the heigh of the Soviet Union. This leads to Superman growing up to becoming a symbol of communism instead of freedom and democracy.

The voice talent bringing the Cold War character’s to life is led by Jason Isaacs as Kal-El, Amy Acker as Lois Lane, Diedrich Bader as Lex Luthor, Phil Morris as James Olsen, Phil LaMarr as John Stewart, Vanessa Marshall as Wonder Woman, Sasha Roiz as Hal Jordan, Roger Craig Smith as Batman, Paul Williams as Braniac and William Salyers as Joseph Stalin.

Sam Liu, director of Reign of the Superman, will once again sit in the director’s chair for an animated Superman film. J.M. DeMatteis, writer of Batman: Bad Blood’s, has penned the script.

Superman: Red Son will arrive in early 2020.
