‘The Rattler’ creative team returns this January for ‘Nocturnal Commissions’

Kickstarter Alert!

It’s no secret that we’re huge fans of Jason McNamara (w) and Greg Hinkle’s (a) 2014 Kickstarted graphic novel, The Rattler.

After six long years, they are finally teaming up again to create a new OGN entitled Nocturnal Commissions.

McNamara recently sent out an email to backers of The Rattler campaign, which reads in part:

Are you being trolled by ghouls, pestered by the paranormal or attempting to file taxes after being resurrected? Nocturnal Commissions is the only agency with the expertise to help. A Wolfman, Vampire, and a Zombie are ready to solve your supernatural concerns for a very reasonable rate (plus expenses).

Nocturnal Commissions is a macabre romp exploring what happens when the mundane meets the monstrous. X-Files meets the Monster Squad.

The line art for the 36-page one-shot is completely finished. Paul Little (SUCKER) is coloring the pages while Greg and I finish up the rewards. Follow our pre-launch page and be the first to know when the project launches. We will have a limited number of original art rewards that will go quick.

While they haven’t given a set launch date yet, you can follow the aforementioned prelaunch page on Kickstarter to be notified when the campaign begins.

You can also follow the Facebook page for Jason McNamara’s independent publishing arm, Polite Strangers, where he’s already posted a ton of Nocturnal Commissions‘ wonderful interior artwork.

(…and if you still haven’t picked up your copy of The Rattler, you can buy it directly from his online store).

Last time McNamara and Hinkle did a Kickstarter together, it was an unequivocal success in three ways:

  1. Created one of the best supernatural crime comics ever.
  2. Rewards were distributed with blinding efficiency.
  3. The book was picked up for mass distribution by Image Comics.

Don’t miss your chance to be one of the cool hipster kids on the ground floor of the next fantastic indy comic from this creative team. Make sure to sign up for an alert when Nocturnal Commissions campaign goes live on Kickstarter next month!
