Arn Anderson joins AEW as Cody’s personal advisor

The Enforcer will also server as AEW’s head coach.

AEW has gained another wrestling legend in the form of Four Horsemen alumni Arn Anderson. The Enforcer joins Tony Khan’s staff in the role of head coach and on-screen personal advisor to The American Nightmare, Cody.

Cody will make the official announcement on this week’s New Year’s Day edition of Dynamite.

“2019 was the most successful year I’ve had in pro-wrestling,” said Cody, EVP of AEW in press release. “Beyond the superfluous financial, it’s been incredibly rewarding on a spiritual level to be able to engage so many fans with a like-minded place in their hearts for the sport.

“That said, one of my greatest fears came true as I lost the opportunity to wrestle for the World Championship again,” continued Cody. “But, on the other side of that fear is freedom to chase every other accolade outside of that title. I still want to collect all the accolades I can and dominate the singles division. That’s why I’m bringing in Arn Anderson as my personal advisor and head coach. He has been in business with my family for over three decades. Having a been a wrestler through so many different generations of talent, he understands what ingredients it takes to look beyond the horizon and produce the best content and results.”

Anderson appeared at his first AEW event back in August when he made a surprise run-in at All Out, where Cody defeated The Chairman, Shawn Spears. In his new role of personal advisor to Cody, Anderson will find himself facing off against his former tag team partner and Four Horsemen alumni, Tully Blanchard, who has been acting as Spears’ personal advisor.

You can catch Anderson’s first appearance on Dynamite live this Wednesday, Jan.1, where he’ll be ringside with Cody for The American Nightmare’s rematch against Darby Allin. This will be Cody and Allin’s first time facing off in the ring since their match at Fyter Fest in June ended in a draw.
