Thursday morning Game Freak and Nintendo held their latest Pokemon Direct presentation where they announced a special expansion pass for the latest Pokemon Generation, Pokemon Sword & Shield. Costing $29.99 in North America, the new expansion will bring new locations, new and old Pokemon, and new challenges to the base games.
Coming first in June is The Isle of Armor, focusing on the theme of “growth”. You’ll have a new rival depending on which game you bought and a new legendary called Kubfu, which can be involved into one of two different versions of another Pokemon called Urfishu.
Sometime in the Fall The Crown Tundra expansion will follow, which places special focus on exploration. Players will lead an expedition team, exploring the insides of Pokemon Dens, encountering another new legendary called Calyrex, and get the chance to capture tons of old, returning legendaries (some with new, Galarian forms it would appear).
Tons of old Pokemon left out of the main games will be returning in this new expansion, over 200! However, people not interested in paying will still be able to trade in their old favorites after an update comes to the game.
And that is all the new information we have for Pokemon: Sword and Shield’s expansion pass.
