NJPW returning to Madison Square Garden Summerslam weekend

WWE NXT TakeOver Boston will be held the same day.

Early Sunday morning at NJPW’s New Beginning in Osaka PPV event, the Japanese wrestling promotion announced that it will be returning to the United States this coming summer for an event at the legendary Madison Square Garden.

The event, dubbed Wrestle Dynasty and will be held at MSG in New York City on Saturday, August 22. NJPW shared the announcement in a YouTube video, watch it below:

The last time NJPW held a show at MSG was April 2019 when they partnered with ROH for the G1 Supercard where Kazuchika Okada defeated Jay White to win the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in the main event.

NJPW picked quite the weekend to return to the US. The date of August 22 will see NJPW go head-to-head with WWE NXT TakeOver Boston, which is scheduled to occur the same night as Wrestle Dynasty.  WWE’s second largest yearly PPV, Summerslam, is being held the following night on August 23.
