Nintendo plans to re-release a number of Super Mario titles from its catalog for the Nintendo Switch this year.
According to a report from VGC, several sources have confirmed Nintendo’s plans to remaster titles from the classic franchise, titles dating back as far as 35 years. Further details come from Eurogamer, confirming that among the titles getting the remaster treatment are 1997’s Super Mario 64, 2002’s Super Mario Sunshine, and 2007’s Super Mario Galaxy. A deluxe version of 2013’s Super Mario 3D and Paper Mario is also allegedly planned.
All indications are pointing to the Super Mario 35th Anniversary reveal taking place during E3 2020. This was before the event’s cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nintendo plans to continue its efforts to connect with fans despite the setback.
We”ll continue to be flexible and redirect our efforts to other ways of keeping our fans up to date about our activities and products… but we are considering various ways to engage with our fans and will have more to share as the year continues.
With a rabid fan-base, and a beloved catalog dating back decades, Nintendo looks to make the most out of one of its most prolific franchises.
