Marvel Comics has debuted a brand-new piece of art drawn by Joe Quesada (colored by Richard Isanove) in honor of the tireless healthcare heroes on the front lines of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The art embodies the spirit of Captain America with his iconic shield emblazoned on the mask of a healthcare worker.
Check it out below.
Later today at noon, Joe Quesada will be talking about the inspiration and meaning behind the piece live on Joe Quesada’s Mornin’ Warm-Up at 12:00pm ET.
This piece is a personal project from Joe Quesada and was not a commission by Marvel. Truly this is a harrowing time for healthcare workers and the citizens of the United States, especially in New York where the pandemic has hit hardest. To that, the art reminds me of Quesada’s work post 9/11 with Heroes: The World’s Greatest Super Hero Creators Honor The World’s Greatest Heroes 9-11-2001 which honored first responders.
