Hot on the heels of Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary’s release on PC, comes even more exciting news — Halo: 2 Anniversary and Halo 2 beta testing for PC begins today.
To take part in the public beta, players must be signed up with 343 Industries’ Halo Insider program, which is open to anyone who wants to sign up. It’s important to know that signing up for Halo Insider does not guarantee you a spot in the first round of beta testing. 343 will be looking to test key performance indicators and based on that, will be inviting users with specific types of hardware configurations to get the data they’re after.
343 Industries’ Halo community coordinator Tyler Davis announced the news on Twitter Thursday evening.
PSA: All Ring 3 blockers have been resolved at this time for Halo 2 and Halo 2: Anniversary flighting to begin on Friday, 4/17. We will let folks know when buttons are being pressed for invites to roll out. Stay tuned to get tactical Marines!

For those of you that may be confused by some of the language in Davis’ Tweet, “flighting” is what 343 Industries refers to as beta tests and “Ring 3” refers to players who are members of the Halo Insiders Program.
Halo 2’s test will include the ability to customize your spartan, a challenge system, the theater, and six campaign missions: Cairo Station, Delta Halo, Gravemind, Metropolis, Quarantine Zone, and The Oracle. Don’t worry, there’s multiplayer too, including:
- Social Games: 2v2, 4v4, and 8v8.
- Competitive: H2C Team Hardcore.
- Halo 2 Multiplayer: Lockout, Midship, Beaver Creek, Burial Mounds, Coagulation, Headlong, Waterworks, Containment, Sanctuary, and Turf.
- Halo 2: Anniversary Multiplayer: Lockdown, Zenith, Stonetown, Bloodline, and Shrine.
At this time there’s no release date available for Halo 2 or Halo 2: Anniversary on PC.
