According to a report by Pamela McClintock and Aaron Couch of The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. The Batman will have its release date shuffled from June 25, 2021 to October 1, 2021.
Production on the film, which stars Robert Pattinson as the Dark Knight, was shut down back in March with only about a quarter of shooting completed. Director Matt Reeves has stated that while the shutdown is obviously disappointing, he’s currently utilizing the time to revisit and prep for some of the film’s more complex sequences.
McClintock and Couch’s report also identifies two 2022 superhero films from Warner Bros. that will have adjusted release dates: The Flash (moving up from July 1 to June 3, 2022 and Shazam! 2 (delayed from April 1 to Nov. 4, 2022).
So far, Wonder Woman 1984 is still scheduled to be released this summer on August 14, 2020. Let’s hope things are back to normal enough that we can all go to the theater by then to see it.
