Top Chef Season 17 Power Rankings: Week 5

Loved ones come to visit.

Chef Nancy Silverton pulled double duty this week as guest judge. During the quickfire, the contestants relied on loved ones who were dining at her restaurant, Osteria Mozza, to relay the dishes they ate in order to recreate them. My favorite scene is when Lee Anne’s mom takes a break from talking with her daughter, to savor her meal like a boss. In the elimination, the chefs had to create their own product and promote it at the Westfield Century City mall. They also had to make a dish that perfectly highlighted said product. Luckily, they had their loved ones to serve as their sous-chef.

Gregory ties Melissa with most elimination wins after the challenge earning him number one in the Power Rankings. Jen Carroll made a lemon-ginger sauce that didn’t connect with the judges and was forced to pack her knives. She tried to redeem herself in Last Chance Kitchen by making another ginger sauce, but fell short and was edged out by Lisa.
