‘Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins’ sequel already being planned

The movie would be the next step in of an expanding G.I. Joe Cinematic Universe

In an exclusive report today from Borys Kit of The Hollywood Reporter, it was revealed that Paramount and Hasbro are already planning a sequel/follow up their October release of Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins.

While no director has been selected yet, Seberg scribes Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse are currently in negotiations to write the script. Snake Eyes producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura will be producing the film, as well.

As far as the movie’s potential plot is concerned, very little is known. In his report, Kit states:

While details of the take are being kept on Cobra Island, the idea for the project is to build on Snake Eyes, making it not quite a sequel but rather an expansion to take audience goers deeper into the world of Joe.”

In the meantime, Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins is still on track (thus far) to be released in theaters on October 23, 2020. Not much has been revealed about that movie, either. The most we’ve seen so far is a photo that the film’s star Henry Golding posted to Instagram back in February.

I’ve never been a huge G.I. Joe fan, but it’s impossible not be excited for a movie centered around a cool character like Snake Eyes–especially after getting a look at that image and seeing how excited Golding is about playing him.

Let’s hope we get a trailer soon!
