Drew Gulak has been released from WWE, according to a Pro Wrestling Sheet report. Gulak was last seen on TV just this past Friday on SmackDown in a losing effort against Daniel Bryan.
Gulak has been with WWE since 2016, when he entered the first Cruiserweight Classic. Since then, he has been a fixture on 205 Live and has had stints on NXT, most recently joining the SmackDown roster as an ally of Daniel Bryan.
Drew joins a long list of former WWE Superstars to be released by the company in recent weeks. The company has been downsizing since the COVID-19 pandemic has forced them to stop selling tickets to live events.
UPDATE: While Pro Wrestling Sheet says they have confirmed Gulak’s release, PWInsider says he wasn’t released, rather his contract expired and the two sides have yet to work out a deal. Whichever is the case, Gulak is now able to explore other opportunities.
