Obi-Wan Kenobi deserves a statue, but where? Fans might be asking themselves, but there’s an answer thanks to fandom rising to the occasion. Sometimes fandom can do great things like make a kid think he’s Batman for a day. There are other cases that are so outlandish you got to wonder if it’s a joke. Case in point, Star Wars fans are nearly at their 10,000 petition goal to erect a statue at the highest point in Scotland. Seeing as Ewan Mcgregor is from Scotland this is a likely place for the statue and we all know Obi-Wan can never lose when he has the high ground.
The change.org petition suggests the statue should be placed on the Ben Nevis mountain. It stands 1,345 meters above sea level and its summit is the highest land in any direction for 459 miles according to Wikipedia. Let’s see Anakin beat that!
Whether this is a joke or not remains to be seen–and it’s not like a certain amount of signatures will convince Scotland to allow such a thing–but it’s a nice bit of humor and a nod to Star Wars.
Here’s to rewatching the scene for the 500th time!
