‘Top Chef’ season 17 Power Rankings: Finale

Is Melissa King the GOAT of Top Chef?

After 14 weeks of grueling competition, the season 17 Top Chef was crowned. Before that, the remaining three contestants had to cook the meals of their lives. Each had to create a progressive four course meal. With so much on the line, they were given reinforcements to help out. Stephanie chose Brian Malarkey for her sous chef, Bryan selected season six buddy, Kevin, and that left Melissa with Lee Anne.

After shopping for ingredients in Florence and cooking for five hours, the finalists were treated to a special dinner prepared by the judges. They then received pep talk calls from those closest to them. Melissa spoke to her mom for support while Stephanie and Bryan conversed with previous Top Chef winners; Stephanie with her former roommate, Kristen Kish, and Bryan with his brother Michael Voltaggio.

The judges had a tough decision on their hands following the four courses because everyone cooked so well. In the end, Melissa’s ability to seamlessly blend her Asian and Chinese influences with traditional Italian ingredients and style led to her being named Top Chef. As a result, she takes the top spot in the final Power Rankings.
