AEW Rankings: July 29, 2020: Abadon is on the board

The Living Dead Girl is coming for Hikaru Shida (maybe).

AEW has released their rankings for the week of July 29, 2020. While there wasn’t much movement between this week and last, I’m happy to report that the women’s division has experience a very exciting change.

Let’s take a look at how each division measures up before tonight’s episode of Dynamite.

AEW Rankings

MJF continues his undefeated singles streak, and as Griff Garrison learned the hard way, don’t you dare bring up MJF’s tag team loss. It’s great to see Darby Allin back in the top 5 and back on AEW television. Allin and Mox’s upcoming duo feud with Brian Cage and Ricky Starks should be very entertaining, but AEW will need to be careful that they don’t end up completely burying Cage and Starks in the process.

AEW Rankings Men’s Division

AEW Champion: Jon Moxley (14-0 singles, 19-2-1 overall)
TNT Champion: Cody Rhodes (16-1, 23-6-1 overall)

1. MJF (8-0 singles, 13-2 overall)
2. Lance Archer (10-1 singles, 10-1 overall)
3. Brian Cage (6-1 singles, 6-1 overall)
4. Brodie Lee (5-1 singles, 7-1 overall)
5. Darby Allin (7-4 singles, 12-11-1 overall)

For the first time in almost six weeks the AEW women’s division top 5 rankings have a new face. FINALLY! So who’s our new addition? None other than the Living Dead Girl — Abadon. We first saw Abadon on AEW television about a month ago when she defeated Anna Jay in singles competition on Dynamite. It was the debut of both women on AEW live programming, both characters are new and interesting, and it was a good match. So it was pretty disappointing when both of them essentially disappeared afterwards.

Hopefully Abadon’s addition to the top 5 rankings mean that we’ll be seeing her on Dynamite tonight.

AEW Rankings Women’s Division

Champion: Hikaru Shida (14-1 singles, 19-7 overall)

1. Nyla Rose (7-2 singles, 14-5 overall)
2. Big Swole (5-3 singles, 6-7 overall)
3. Penelope Ford (5-4 singles, 7-6 overall)
4. Dr. Britt Baker (4-4 singles, 13-8 overall)
5. Abadon (2-1 singles, 2-1 overall)

The Young Bucks swapped places with Jurassic Express, otherwise no movement. I will say, I’ve been a little down on the Bucks lately, but after this match last week against The Butcher and The Blade, they absolutely deserve to be moving up the rankings.

No sign of FTR yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they overtake Private Party at the #5 position soon. Even with FTR’s involvement with Adam Page and their tension with Kenny Omega, I still have no idea what the plan is for our next potential tag team champions.

AEW Rankings Tag Team Division

Champions: Kenny Omega & “Hangman” Adam Page (10-0)

1. Dark Order (8-0)
2. The Best Friends (12-4)
3. The Young Bucks (5-2)
4. Jurassic Express (5-2)
5. Private Party (5-4)
