Call up Chili’s cause it’s time to celebrate! Mr. Brodie Lee is your new TNT Champion!
What a week for AEW and the rankings. The leader of the Dark Order ascended to greatness and the company managed to capture impressive TV ratings even though Dynamite was pushed out of it’s normal Wednesday night time slot (thank you NBA playoffs) all the way to back Saturday evening.
Let’s take a look at how each division measures up before tonight’s episode of Dynamite.
It’s safe to say that Mr. Brodie Lee and the Dark Order haven’t really lived up to their expectations thus far in AEW. But that all changed on Dynamite last week when the leader of the Dark Order defeated Cody to capture the TNT Championship. Lee didn’t just defeat Cody either, he beat the ever living crap out of him and utterly destroyed the Nightmare Family. It was hands down the best segment Dark Order has had in AEW thus far.
Lee looked like an absolute monster, his minions in Dark Order looked strong and scary, and rising star Anna Jay put AEW’s first lady out cold with a nasty choke hold. But by far the best moment came when Lee dumped the shattered remains of the original TNT title on Cody’s unconscious and broken body. The cherry on top to an already amazing segment.
I can’t wait to see what Lee and the Dark Order do next.
AEW Rankings Men’s Division
AEW Champion: Jon Moxley (15-0 singles, 21-2-1 overall)
TNT Champion: Mr. Brodie Lee (6-1, 9-1 overall)
1. MJF (8-0 singles, 13-2 overall)
2. Lance Archer (12-1 singles, 12-1 overall)
3. Cody (18-2, 26-7-1)
4. Brian Cage (6-1 singles, 6-2 overall)
5. Scorpio Sky (7-2 singles, 24-11 overall)
Diamante and Ivelisse beat The Nightmare Sisters (Brandi Rhodes & Allie) to win the Deadly Draw Women’s Tag Team tournament and the finals were actually on Dynamite. It was a great match and makes me wish that they had showcased more of this tournament on Dynamite.
NWA Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa cut a pre-taped promo on Dynamite last week in which she challenged AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida to a title match at All Out. For reason’s no one can explain, she gets to skip the line, skip the rankings, and shoot her way straight to the top.
While Thunder Rosa is an excellent wrestler and I’m sure the match will be great, this complete disregard for the rankings and the women SIGNED to AEW really irks me.
AEW Rankings Women’s Division
Champion: Hikaru Shida (16-1 singles, 21-7 overall)
1. Nyla Rose (8-2 singles, 15-6 overall)
2. Big Swole (6-3 singles, 8-8 overall)
3. Penelope Ford (7-4 singles, 9-7 overall)
4. Abadon (4-1 singles, 4-1 overall)
5. Dr. Britt Baker (4-4 singles, 13-8 overall)
The Natural Nightmares have returned and they’ve pushed Jurassic Express out of the top 5.
This week’s episode of Dynamite will feature a gauntlet match to determine the challengers for Kenny Omega and Hangman Adam Page and the AEW World Tag Team Championship at All Out. The match will begin with the Natural Nightmares facing off against The Young Bucks, and the winners will face Best Friends. Whoever wins that bout will face FTR.
I think we all know FTR is going on to face Omega and Page at All Out for the titles. The real question is whether or not they beat them.
AEW Rankings Tag Team Division
Champions: Kenny Omega & “Hangman” Adam Page (12-0)
1. FTR (6-0)
2. Best Friends (14-4)
3. The Young Bucks (6-2)
4. Natural Nightmares (6-1)
5. Dark Order (8-2)
