Channel Surfing: Awesome TV picks for the week of 08/31/2020

A.P. Bio on a new home, Ridley Scott’s new show, and The Boys new season.

This week there’s a variety of shows included in the Channel Surfing TV picks from comedy to science fiction to comics. Class is in session for A.P. Bio when the third season begins on a new home. The future is bleak in Raised by Wolves as two robots assume the parenting responsibilities to ensure the survival of the human race. Finally, with the Boys on the run from the law, will anyone be able to keep those no-good superheroes in line? Find out when the series returns.

Earn Them College Credits

It may never have been a ratings juggernaut but A.P. Bio definitely had a passionate fan base. Many were disappointed when the show got the axe after only two seasons. Luckily for them, their time of mourning lasted a few months because the series was resurrected and picked up for a third season. It won’t be moving too far as it makes the jump from NBC to its streaming service, Peacock.

This authority figure behaving badly program follows a Harvard professor who experiences a fall from grace and finds himself teaching science at a Toledo, Ohio high school. Expect more scheming from Jack and attempts at avoiding instructing his kids in the upcoming eight-episode season. A.P. Bio streams on Peacock this Thursday, September 3.

Humanity on the Brink

Ridley Scott is best known for his work on the big screen in such films that include Blade Runner, Alien, and Gladiator. However, he’s been also known to dabble in television usually as an executive producer and developer. The latest project he’s been attached to is the upcoming science fiction drama, Raised by Wolves.

The story follows a pair of androids who are tasked with raising human children on a desolate planet following the Earth’s destruction during a great war. Survival isn’t the only hardship they experience as the two parental robots discover shaping the young minds of humanity’s only hope can be a slippery slope.

Raised by Wolves is one of Scott’s first times directing on a television series. The first three episodes premiere Thursday, September 3, on HBO Max.

Guess Who Just Got Back Today…

The Boys are back in town. The second season of Amazon Prime’s superhero series begins this week. Continue following the opposing groups of the Seven, the superpowered team loved by the public (but who are corrupt egomaniacs) and the titular Boys, who try to keep the Seven in check through vigilantism. When we last left off, the Boys were on the run as fugitives and Butcher learned the truth about his family from Homelander.

The Boys is based on the comic book with the same name from creators, Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The first three episodes of season two will be available to stream on Amazon Prime this Friday, September 4.
