All Elite Wrestling has added a new veteran to their women’s roster: Serena Deeb. The announcement was made at 1 p.m. today on AEW’s Twitter page.
Deeb made her AEW debut on the Sept. 2, 2020, edition of AEW Dynamite as a warm-up opponent for the debuting Thunder Rosa. Though the match was booked to showcase the NWA Women’s Champion prior to her match at All Out, it was reported after the show that like Ricky Starks and Eddie Kingston before her, Deeb’s debut match got the attention of folks backstage.
Chris Jericho mentioned on his Talk is Jericho podcast a few weeks ago that he believed that Deeb was signed after the match, but no official word came until this afternoon.
Prior to joining AEW, Deeb was best known for her stint as a member of CM Punk’s Straight Edge Society in WWE. After leaving WWE in 2010, she returned as an entrant in the inaugural Mae Young Classic in 2017. She re-signed with WWE as a coach at the Performance Center in 2018 and continued to work there until being released from the company as part of their pandemic layoffs in early 2020.
Deeb’s next AEW appearance will be on tomorrow night’s AEW Dark episode, where she will be facing off against KiLynn King.
Congratulations to Serena Deeb!
