Yesterday, the Instagram account for swactionew.com posted a photo of what appears to be a super articulated Boba Fett in Diamond Select packaging.
According to the person who sent them the picture, it was found in hotel within one of the Disney Parks. Folks were initially skeptical, but follow up correspondence/sleuthing by exclumagazine and Jedi Temple Archives confirms that this is the first figure in a new Star Wars line.
Oddly, JTA’s report claims this figure/toy line will not be a Disney Parks exclusive, despite the exclusive sticker slapped right on the front of the packaging. They also unearthed a photo showing that this line (or at least this figure) might not be in the same 7″ scale that Diamond’s Marvel Select line is.

Diamond Select Boba Fett (Jedi Temple Archives)
Whatever the case, this is potentially very exciting news. While I highly doubt that Disney would take back the Star Wars’ license from Hasbro, it will be great having another toy line from a company that’s proven it can make great figures. And even if you don’t have any intention of buying these, competition in the affordable collector-focused action figure market is always a good thing.
We’ll keep you updated if/when we hear anything official from Diamond about this development.
