AEW Rankings: October 28, 2020: Dinner Debonair

The eliminator tournament sets the stage for Moxley’s future challenger.

AEW’s upcoming pay-per-view, Full Gear, creeps ever closer, but can it eclipse the majesty that was the Dinner Debonair between the Le Champion Chris Jericho and the Salt of the Earth, MJF? The next two episodes of Dynamite will look to give us an idea.

With only a week and a half to go until the big event, let’s see what this week’s AEW Rankings have to show us.

AEW Rankings

AEW

The men’s division has taken a back seat to the action of the World Title Eliminator Tournament. Last week’s episode saw Pentagon Jr., Kenny Omega, Hangman Adam Page, and Wardlow advance. The semi finals will almost definitely see Kenny Omega and Hangman Adam Page walk away at the top of their respective brackets, but you never know, stranger things have happened.

Besides Darby Allin replacing Shawn Spears on the top 5, no changes to report this week.

AEW Rankings Men’s Division

AEW Champion: Jon Moxley (20-0 singles, 26-2-1 overall)
TNT Champion: Cody (19-2-1, 27-7-2 overall)

1. Brian Cage (7-1 singles, 7-2 overall)
2. MJF (8-1 singles, 13-3 overall)
3. Lance Archer (13-1 singles, 13-1 overall)
4. Brodie Lee (8-2 singles, 11-3 overall)
5. Darby Allin (12-5 singles, 18-12-1 overall)

The biggest news to come out of the women’s division within the past week is the scary injury Abadon suffered on the latest episode of AEW Dark. According to Brian Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer Radio, the rising star took an elbow to the throat, rendering her unable to breath. The living dead girl was rushed to the hospital and thankfully is okay and expected to make a full recovery. Hopefully we see Abadon back on Dynamite sooner rather than later, she’s easily one of the best things the Women’s Division has going for it.

One single match came out of the women’s division last week. AEW continues to amaze me with how little they feature this division on Dynamite.

AEW Rankings Women’s Division

Champion: Hikaru Shida (19-1 singles, 25-7 overall)

1. Nyla Rose (11-2 singles, 18-6 overall)
2. Penelope Ford (9-5 singles, 11-8 overall)
3. Abadon (5-1 singles, 5-1 overall)
4. Big Swole (10-4 singles, 12-9 overall)
5. Dr. Britt Baker (6-6 singles, 15-10 overall)

The Tag Team division continues to be the best of its kind that any wrestling company is currently producing. Last week’s 2 vs. 2. vs. 2 vs. 2 main event tag team match featured The Dark Order, Private Party, Young Bucks, and Butcher & Blade. The match ultimately served as a method to put over the Young Bucks as we approach their inevitable title match with FTR at Full Gear, but the match was nonetheless extremely entertaining and a nice reminder that AEW’s tag division is absolutely loaded, even outside the top-5.

AEW Rankings Tag Team Division

Champions: FTR: Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler (12-0)

1. The Young Bucks (8-3)
2. Best Friends (14-6)
3. Natural Nightmares (8-2)
4. The Butcher & The Blade (10-6)
5. Santana & Ortiz (8-5)
