AIPT Comics Podcast Episode 98: DC Comics’ alarming layoffs and Frank Gogol talks indie projects

The AIPT Comics podcast analyzes the shocking DC Comics layoffs, recap the biggest news, and interview comics writer Frank Gogol.

The AIPT Comics podcast is back this week to recap the biggest news, discuss our favorite comics, and special guest Frank Gogol joins the show to discuss his current and future projects. Writer Gogol recently wrapped up No Heroine and joins the show to talk about his new series Dead End Kids: Suburban Job #1. We talk about how the pandemic affected No Heroine, what’s in store for the new series, and more.  Dead End Kids: Suburban Job #1 is out on January 27, 2021.

Before the Gogol interview, we check in on the news starting with the second wave of DC Comics lays offs and how the company announced Marie Javins’ promotion to Editor in Chief. In other publisher shake-up news, IDW is looking for a new managing editor.

In new comics series news, Truth & Justice is launching a digital-first anthology series in January, Savage Dragon #253 is getting a congratulations Joe Biden/Harris cover, Image Comics is launching Geiger in April 2021, while Marvel is launching X-Men Legends this February. Oh, and everyone can welcome back Wolverine thanks to Marvel’s teaser.

In indie comics news, a new sonic and visual graphic novel experience called Superstate is on the way from Z2 Comics, Hollow Heart is on the way from Vault in February 2021, and Kickstarters have pulled in $22 million in 2020.
