Yesterday, Hasbro’s Marvel Legends team revealed a ton of new figures coming out next year during their Fan First Friday live stream.
Before we go through all of them, I should warn you that I’m not a big X-Men fan like I used to be. There’s a decent chance I won’t realize the true awesomeness found within this mutant-heavy selection of toys. That said, I hope this article gives you a good idea of what’s coming and what’s available for preorder.
Also, we’re going to start with the figure everyone would love to have regardless of where their fandom lies:
Now that is one gloriously chonky piece of plastic goodness. Add in that great figure stand along with the alternate face/hands, and the only thing keeping me from pulling the trigger is the $49.99 price tag.
If you’re ready to plunk down your money now, however, it’s currently available for preorder with an expected arrival in May 2021.
Deadpool 2 Deadpool
This one features Merc With a Mouth as he appeared in Deadpool 2 after the big explosion near the end. As expected, he comes with lots of weapons and alternate hands (but not that Ryan Reynolds alternate head we’ve all been waiting for).
The figure will retail for $24.99 and is available exclusively from Amazon. You can preorder it now with an expected arrival in March 2021.
Silver Surfer with Mjolnir
This one wouldn’t interest me too much except for the fact that it comes with Mjolnir. I’m still unlikely to pick it up, but being a Walgreens exclusive means the figure should be available if I ever change my mind.
There’s no preorder info available yet, but the figure is expected to hit store shelves sometime this spring.
House of X Wave
House of X is pretty big stuff over here at AIPT, which makes me feel even more sheepish/embarrassed that I don’t follow it. That doesn’t mean I can’t consider buying some of the toys, though.
All of these figures are available now for preorder from your preferred online stores (retailing for $19.99) with an expected arrival this spring. Links to their preorder pages are in the headings.
Also, the labels on the packaging are in Krakoan, which is simultaneously cool and confusing.
I have absolutely no idea how or why Charles Xavier is in this costume, but that alternate head is awesome. He’s also selling out all over the place, so you’ll want to snag this one quickly.
That alternate angry/pre-optic blast head (along with my obsession with the color blue) has me a lot closer to buying my first Marvel Legends Cyclops than I ever expected.
In addition to giving us our first Moria MacTaggert action figure, we also get an alternate head so she can look more like her current/mutant incarnation.
I know a lot of you have been waiting for a Marvel Legends figure of Magneto in his white costume, which looks absolutely fantastic (especially when it’s not the sleeveless version).
Do I already have plenty of Wolverine figures on my shelf? Yes.
Is a figure that includes a grey goateed head and arm hair detail enough to get me to buy another one? Probably.
I’ll confess to not knowing anything about this character, but those alternate weapon arms look awesome.
The classic Tri-Sentinel was featured in the first Spider-Man comic I ever bought, so it holds a special place in my heart. Unfortunately, the Build-A-Figure we get from this wave doesn’t look anything like the original.
It’s a still a cool design, but when you consider that the classic one can be made with the Marvel Legends Sentinel from HasLab, I have a feeling that a lot of these completed BAFs are going to end up on Ebay.
Other Reveals & Teases for 2021
- Classic/Rich Rider Nova coming in this spring. It will be a Walgreens exclusive and the first time we’ve seen the classic version of the figure in the Marvel Legends line in over a decade.
- A new version of Cannonball will be released that includes his legs.
- A new figure with a completely new sculpt and a tail is coming.
- CLASSIC ULTRON IS FINALLY BEING MADE. The figure will feature an all new sculpt and come with a removable power effect!
