‘The Department of Truth’ optioned for development as a television series

James Tynion and Martin Simmonds will have a hand in bringing their incredible series to the screen.

Earlier today, Bleeding Cool reported that Image Comics’ The Department of Truth had been optioned to be developed into a television series.

The news was later confirmed by Borys Kit of the Hollywood Reporter, who revealed that both the movie and television rights to the series had been purchased by Sister production studio.

Sister is a fairly new studio, but they’ve already made a big splash with HBO’s Chernobyl and AMC’s Gangs of London.

As far as The Department of Truth is concerned, we’re very big fans of the series around here. Just knowing it was going to be turned into a series would’ve been exciting enough, but Kit also reports that writer James Tynion will be co-writing the script and serving as an executive producer along with artist Martin Simmonds.

Conspiracy theories may be a current source of political frustration (and awkward family Facebook interactions), but Tynion and Simmonds series puts a new spin on them that is equal parts thrilling and terrifying.

Seeing their story play out on screen–especially with their guidance–should be all types of fun.
