On Friday, Banthaskull.com exclusively revealed prototype images for two upcoming figures for Hasbro’s Star Wars Vintage Collection toyline: IG-11 and Lando Calrissian from Empire Strikes Back.
Let’s take a look at the best robotic nurse in the galaxy first.
IG-11
When this figure was announced during the Fan First Friday livestream back in January, I certainly didn’t expect to see a prototype this soon…or for it to look so incredibly good.
I figured that Hasbro would just spruce up the old 2011 Vintage Collection figure a bit and slap some different packaging on it. Instead, they gave us a completely new and beautiful sculpt. Senior Product Designer Emily Cantelupe explains:
“This IG-11 Figure is an ambitious fully new sculpt with many details. He has multiple points of swivel rotation in his torso and head to achieve his spinning action poses from the show. He has thin, flexible wires along his legs, and a separate bandolier piece. He comes with 2 blaster rifles for battle. And he also reaches an impressive height when standing next to other human figures!”
I was kind of hoping for a front facing knapsack to put Baby Yoda/Gorgu in, but otherwise I have no complaints about this must-buy figure.
Lando Calrissian (Empire Strikes Back)
This figure features some new tooling along with a soft goods cape and photoreal face printing. As always with human figures, I’ll wait to see the actual production samples before making a purchase.
Both IG-11 and Lando will retail for $12.99 and are expected to be available this fall.
