In a press release, CW Chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz cited strong positive reaction to the series’ premiere for the quick renewal, stating:
“The phenomenal multiplatform debut of Superman & Lois, which delivered for us in a big way on both a linear and streaming basis, is a testament to the creativity, hard work and dedication of the talented people who worked tirelessly in front of and behind the camera, especially in this challenging environment.”
The press release goes on to reveal the the Superman & Lois premiere gave the CW its best primetime ratings in two years, pulling in 1.7 million viewers for the broadcast and adding another 1 million for streaming/delayed viewing.
The show’s early success also adds credence to the theory that every DC property Warner Bros. adapts for television should be done through the Arrowverse.
