Channel Surfing: Awesome TV picks for the week of 03/08/2021

A talk show, a special, and an awards show.

If you like talk shows, specials, or awards shows, you’ll enjoy our Channel Surfing TV picks for this week. Revisit the first two seasons of Vice TV’s most watched series with all the content they couldn’t fit in the first time around in Dark Side of the Ring: Confidential. See how vaccine distribution and right-wing conspiracies affect a small Colorado town in the “South ParQ Vaccination Special”. Then spend the evening with music’s hottest stars during the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards Show.

A Look Beyond the Mat

Dark Side of the Ring is a popular franchise that can be found on Vice TV. It began as a docuseries exploring provocative events and subject matter in the world of professional wrestling. The show was so successful, it eventually received an aftershow. Now the brand is further expanding with an all-new 90-minute talk show.

Dark Side of the Ring: Confidential will take a look back at the first two seasons of the original with the show’s creators and they will answer unanswered questions and secrets while showing never before seen moments. They will be joined by host and industry insider, Conrad Thompson, along with a special guest to discuss the Von Erich brothers’ tragic deaths, the Montreal Screwjob and more. Tommy Dreamer, the Blue Meanie, and Savio Vega are only a few of the wrestlers set to appear on the show.

Dark Side of the Ring: Confidential will begin Tuesday, March 9, on Vice TV.

Shots! Shots! Shots!

South Park has been mainly on hiatus due to COVID-19. There hasn’t been any update on the new season but we did receive a special last fall that covered the current pandemic. It is only fitting now that there’s some optimism with how things are going that the animated series would give their fans yet another TV special.

The “South ParQ Vaccination Special” as the name implies, will address the issues related to vaccine distribution along with the QAnon conspiracy theory. I’m sure they will apply their usual dark, satirical, and maybe even obscene humor.

The all-new “South ParQ Vaccination Special” premieres Wednesday, March 10th, on Comedy Central. It will also be simulcast on MTV2.

And the Award Goes To…

The Grammy Awards are the biggest night in music but due to spiking cases in Los Angeles last January, the show was postponed. This weekend seems to be a better time to hold the 63rd annual awards show as numbers have stabilized.

Who will come out as the biggest winner? Beyoncé has the most nominations out of any artist with nine followed by Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift; each with six. Can rapper, Roddy Rich, represent for the fellas with his six nominations as well? You can’t forget the musical performances either with Billy Eilish, Chris Martin, Megan Thee Stallion, and others set to hit the stage.

The Grammys will air Sunday, March 14, on CBS.
