On Monday afternoon, Hasbro revealed a new Marvel Legends figure for John Walker from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The figure is based on Walker’s appearance as the new Captain America.
First off, let’s take a look at the packaging, which is modeled after the figure we saw Walker signing for a fan during the opening moments of Episode 2. I normally don’t trust folks who keep their toys in the box, but I can definitely understand the appeal here.
As far as the figure itself is concerned, it comes with the iconic Captain American shield and an alternate head that’s a pretty decent likeness of actor John Wyatt. The costume also looks good, although I hope we get to see him in his comic counterpart’s U.S. Agent gear at some point.
Unfortunately, the figure is also an eBay Walmart exclusive, which means I won’t be picking one up unless I run across it in store. Since my Walmart restocks Hasbro products with blue moon-esque frequency, that’s pretty unlikely.
I know I might sound a bit cynical/harsh, but until Walmart shows a consistent ability to handle Hasbro preorders without canceling most of them, it’s not worth the hassle for a figure that isn’t a “must have” on my list. If John Walker is a must have for you, however, then then it’ll set you back $22.99 and can be preordered (in theory) on Walmart’s website.
