Channel Surfing: Awesome TV picks for the week of 04/12/2021

A pair of animated series and one off special.

Streamers are the place to be for this week’s Channel Surfing TV picks. Over on HBO Max, the final season of the fan favorite, Infinity Train, will air. The folks of Apple TV+’s Mythic Quest head back to the office in the special, “Everlight.” Finally, get ready for an adrenaline rush when the fourth season of Fast & Furious Spy Adventures begins on Netflix.

One Last Ride

Infinity Train is a critically acclaimed animated anthology series that made the move from Cartoon Network to HBO Max last summer. Though the main characters change from season to season, the main constant is the titular mode of transportation.

The newest season follows two childhood best friends who aspire to become a band and travel around performing at various venues across Canada. Before they reach that stage in their lives, the duo experiences a falling out. Now, they find themselves the latest passengers on board the Infinity Train and they must see if they can put their differences aside to escape or become permanent riders.

Stream the fourth season of Infinity Train this Thursday, April 15, on HBO Max.

Back to the Office

Mythic Quest is a workplace comedy exploring the behind the scenes at a World of Warcraft type video game studio. Like many shows, it has been affected by the pandemic, however the series has tried to address the overall everyday impact on people in a pair of specials in between the first and second season. The first, “Quarantine,” was shot entirely remotely and showed how the gang coped with being in lockdown.

The second special will air this week and is entitled “Everlight.” With things beginning to open up, the company employees return to the office to celebrate their annual Everlight party. Star and episode director, Rob McElhenney, wanted to explore “the practical and emotional difficulties of returning to normalcy.” The great Anthony Hopkins lends his voice to the episode.

“Everlight” comes out this Friday, April 16, on Apple TV+.

Thrills South of the Border

Fingers crossed, the next installment of The Fast and the Furious franchise will come out this summer. It’s been quite a long wait with postponements due to other film releases along with the current pandemic. For those itching for more Toretto exploits, Fast & Furious Spy Adventures should hold you over until June.

Dom’s cousin, Tony, is recruited by the government to infiltrate the secret crime organization, SH1FT3R, to prevent their plans of world domination. In season four, the crew and their liaison, Ms. Nowhere, are framed for a crime they didn’t commit. In order to clear their name and find the real culprit, they head down to Mexico all while they are pursued by an unstoppable super agent.

The fourth season of Fast & Furious Spy Adventures will be released Friday, April 16, on Netflix.
