In an exclusive report Tuesday from Matt Donnelly at Variety, it was revealed that four-time Emmy nominee Emilia Clarke has been added to the cast of Marvel Studios upcoming Secret Invasion series. This news comes on the heels of an exclusive report by Borys Kit of The Hollywood Reporter that Oscar winning actress Olivia Colman will be joining the series, as well.
Considering that the series already stars Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn, it’s looking like Marvel Studios’ adaptation of the 2008 comic event might be its most star-studded Disney+ production yet.
For those who missed out, Secret Invasion kicked off with Marvel’s superheroes discovering that some surprisingly key/important members of their ranks had been infiltrated by the shape shifting Skrulls. As you can probably guess, this was done in preparation for a hostile takeover of Earth.
Even for someone like me who’s not a fan of big comic events, Secret Invasion was highly enjoyable. If the recent casting news in any indication, the upcoming television series will be, as well.
