On Monday, Borys Kit of the Hollywood Reporter exclusively revealed that Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah will co-direct HBO’s upcoming Batgirl film. The pair previously directed 2020’s Bad Boys for Life and just wrapped working as co-showrunners on the first season of Ms. Marvel.
I’ll be completely honest here and admit that I’m unfamiliar with the pair’s work. Fortunately, whatever they do with Ms. Marvel should give us a decent idea of how things will be with Batgirl–especially if they go with a tone that matches the fantastic run/interpretation of the character had back in 2014.
No casting news has been revealed yet, although we do know that Birds of Prey writer Christina Hodson penned the script, who is one of the best choices imaginable to write a modern-day Barbara Gordon.
No matter what happens with this film, however, I think we can all agree that it needs to include some cool motorcycle chase scenes.
