In an interview with a Swedish radio station this week, Stellan Skarsgård revealed he will share a scene in the upcoming Star Wars: Andor series with Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera.
I’m fairly certain that Skarsgård wasn’t supposed to let that info slip, but the news (plus the rumors of Ben Mendelsohn returning as Orson Krennic) have me much more excited for Andor than I was a few months ago.
In addition to being a great character played by a great actor, Saw Gerrera has ties all over the Star Wars universe. In addition to Rogue One, he’s also appeared in Clone Wars, Rebels, Jedi: Fallen Order, multiple books/comics, and most recently on The Bad Batch.
Based on where Andor will fit chronologically within the Star Wars timeline, it looks like we’re going to get to see Gerrera when he was still shaving his head and in much better fighting shape than he was during his final days on Jedha. No matter how things shake out, though, having Whitaker bring the this character to life on screen again should be a real treat.
