Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman launching Kids Love Chains Press with ‘Vanish’ as first title

Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman revealed a new series called ‘Vanish’ is on the way under their brand new comics imprint.

Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman revealed over their Steg-Man and His Amazing Friends podcast they’re starting a new comics imprint known as Kids Love Chains Press. They also revealed the first series is called Vanish and more will be revealed by August. Oh, and it’s not part of the Spawn universe.

Influences listed for the book includes Wildcats, Spawn, and Akira comics. Cates also joked the villain of the book is similar to Knull and thanked Marvel for letting them use the character. Cates added, “This is all of our 90s crazy shit, with a little hint of salt of My Chemical Romance emo nonsense.”

Stegman added, “Listen this is the coolest thing you’ve ever seen.” Stegman revealed cover art as well which featured the main character. The cover art is by Stegman with inks by JP Mayer and colors by Jason Keith.

Also revealed was a superhero team although Cates and Stegman seemed to suggest the man in black on the wire in the background is not a hero per se.

They also revealed cover art by Skottie Young and Daniel Warren Johnson. Check out screengrabs of those below.

“This is Donny’s and mine, we own this,” Stegman said. Cates revealed the title sharing the same first letter as Venom was intentional on some level so that fans who flock to the “V” section in the comic book shop will soon be able to find Vanish. Ultimately the naming worked out as Cates said the title had to be Vanish. The title has been in the works for years according to Cates.

The new series has yet to have a publisher revealed, though Cates said due to a phone call yesterday they’re holding off on who that publisher will be. That’s in part because the publisher may dictate how this book is enjoyed. “There’s going to be a really fun and interesting way to interact with the creation of this book as it happens that is unprecedented,” Stegman said.

This news comes after Stegman and Cates teased a new collaboration all week via mysterious graphics which you can see below.

You can watch the imprint and series reveal in the YouTube version of the podcast below.

Cates said we’d learn more about this project next month or early August.
