Adams told us during an interview back in 2019 that No Exit had been optioned for a movie deal, but it was still a shock to find out it had already completed filming–especially coming right on the tail end of the pandemic. The movie will also be released on Hulu in 2022, which pretty much guarantees I’ll need to keep my subscription until then.
A dangerous blizzard. A group of strangers. A mysterious kidnapping. And not everyone is who they seem…

If you haven’t read No Exit, then do yourself a favor and check out what might possibly be this century’s best thriller novel. You should also make sure to block out an entire day for it. Taylor Adams is a master of creating chapter cliffhangers that don’t allow you to put the book down until it’s finished.
The story revolves around a young college student who becomes snowed in at a remote interstate rest stop with four other people. The already tense situation becomes exponentially worse when she steps outside and notices a little girl trapped inside a cage within one of the other cars.
As you might imagine, a night of suspicion, terror, and survival ensues.
As far as the film adaptation is the concerned, it’s directed by Damien Power (who helmed 2016’s Killing Ground) and stars Havana Rose Liu, Danny Ramirez, David Rysdahl, Dale Dickey, Mila Harris and Dennis Haysbert.
It’s not clear who’s playing what role, although my guess is that Hannah Rose Liu will be playing the main character (Darby) and Mila Harris will play the kidnapped little girl. You likely know Dennis Haysbert from one of his countless award winning dramatic roles or as the guy with the really deep voice who tells you to buy All-State insurance. Danny Ramirez recently starred as Joaquin Torres in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
If this crew can do the source material justice, then get ready for a thriller movie so good that you won’t even want to look at your phone while it’s playing.
